The Black Ferns will cross the Tasman for the first time since 1998 for two rugby internationals against Australia in October.

The Australian Rugby Union today confirmed its women's team would host the world champion Black Ferns in Canberra on October 14 and 18.

The Dale Atkins-coached Black Ferns will be defending the Laurie O'Reilly Memorial Trophy, which they claimed during their 2-0 series win over the Wallaroos in New Zealand last year.
