Shouldering the blame: Manu is out for two weeks for his tackle on Sowden-Taylor

Scarlets prop Deacon Manu has been banned for two weeks for his tackle on Cardiff Blues flanker Robin Sowden-Taylor.

Manu appeared before a WRU Disciplinary Committee in Cardiff on Wednesday. Robert Williams, the citing commissioner for the match, lodged the citing against the Scarlets player for an alleged dangerous charge of an opponent without the ball, including shouldering.

The Disciplinary Committee found the case against Manu proven and determined the offence was at the lower end of the scale of sanctions featured in the Union's Disciplinary Sanctions and suspended Manu for two weeks.

The challenge could rule Sowden-Taylor out of Wales' tour to South Africa in June depending on the results of the scan. It is feared the injury caused will require surgery, in which case the Blues flanker will be out of action until next season.
