Paris Move: Day transfers to French capital

Sale Sharks second-row Christian Day has signed a three-month contract with Top 14 giants Stade Français.

The 24-year-old, who is a product of the Sale Academy, has struggled to feature this season for the Guinness Premiership side.

And Sale's Director of Rugby Philippe Saint Andre has wished the lock every success on his short-term deal across the Channel.

"I would like to thank Christian for his time at Sale Sharks," the Frenchman said.

"His appearances this season have been limited due to the form of Sean Cox, Nacho (Fernandez Lobbe), Brent Cockbain, Dean Schofield and Chris Jones. We wish him well."

Meanwhile in the Guinness Premiership monthly awards, London Wasps' Ian McGeechan has been named Director of Rugby for March and Harlequins' Danny Care has picked up the Player of the Month award.

Under the guidance of McGeechan, Wasps have won all three of their domestic matches this month, including their first ever win over Leicester Tigers at Welford Road.

Those wins have taken them to within touching distance of the leading pack as they aim to qualify for the Guinness Premiership semi-final.

March has also been a good month for McGeechan's colleague Shaun Edwards. As well as playing his part in Wasps' excellent domestic form, he was also part of the Welsh Grand Slam winning team.

As was the case in February, special mention was given to Dean Richards who has guided Harlequins to three wins from their four Guinness Premiership matches in March, lifting them to third in the table.

However, Harlequins' efforts have been recognised by the Player award won by scrum-half Care.

The former Leeds man has grown in stature over the course of this season and seems to have established himself as Quins' first choice nine in preference to World Cup finalist Andy Gomersall.

And coach Richards has tipped Care to add a senior cap to those gained at age group level on this year's England tour to New Zealand.
