Reunited: Hamilton and Mauger to link up again

Leicester Tigers boss Heyneke Meyer has confirmed that New Zealand utility back Scott Hamilton is joining Welford Road.

South African Meyer secured the player on a two-year deal and admitted he is delighted with his recent coup and looking forward to seeing the All Black international in action from November.

"He'll be great for us, he's a quality player who can also play at full-back," he said, speaking to BBC Radio Leicester.

"He is a great guy, is always professional and always gives everything for his team."

Hamilton has won three Super Rugby titles with the Crusaders as well as lifting Ranfurly Shield and NPC honours.

And according to Canterbury Assistant Coach John Haggart, the experienced and intelligent 28-year-old will be sorely missed by the Kiwi side.

"Scott has been such a reliable and consistent performer for Canterbury and the Crusaders over the years that it's inevitable he will leave a huge hole," he said.
