Lyn Jones: The interim Dragon

Newport Gwent Dragons have secured the services on a consultancy basis of former Ospreys Head Coach Lyn Jones, to cover as an assistant coach while the frenchise searches for a full-time appointment.

Jones, the former Ospreys coach, joins the coaching team at the Dragons until the end of December 2008, covering fixtures up to and including the away fixture at the Scarlets.

"Lyn and I have had several discussions over the past month in my dealings with Lyn in his role at Ebbw Vale RFC. I believe Lyn would bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our coaching team during the intensive program of fixtures ahead of us."

The interim appointment will enable the search for a suitable candidate to fill the vacant coaching position at the Dragons to continue in earnest.

With thirteen applicants for the position received, the management team at the Dragons are in the process of drawing up a short list of candidates for interview, with an appiontment intended for the new year.
