Strong start: Murray smiling after Saints score

Scotland prop Euan Murray is refusing to get carried away with murmurs that he is nailed on for a spot on next summer's British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa.

The Northampton tighthead has been widely predicted to make the 2009 spectacle after showing impressive form for club and country.

However, the 28-year-old believes it would be wrong to think about future possibilities when there is Guinness Premiership and Six Nations competitions in closer range.

"I can't listen to that stuff. As soon as I start thinking that the job is done, I'm beaten," Murray said, speaking to BBC Radio Northampton.

"I would love to go, any player would. But it takes hard work and commitment.

"[To make the squad] you also need to stay injury-free for the whole season."
