Munster blow: Denis Leamy will be out of action for five weeks

Munster have suffered an early blow ahead of their Heineken Cup clash with Pool One opponents Clermont on Sunday, with news that loose forward Denis Leamy has been ruled out.

The Irish international will be out for at least five weeks with a knee injury sustained in the Magners League win over the Scarlets in Llanelli last Friday.

The back-row forward suffered the knee injury late in the second half of the game at Parc Y Stradey and will definitely miss back-to-back games with Clermont after seeing a specialist earlier this week to determine the seriousness of the knock.

Rua Tipoki, Jerry Flannery and Denis Hurley are also missing from the 26-man squad for the third game in the group.

South African Justin Melck who had originally been signed on a short-term contract as back row cover was due to return home at the weekend but now remains on until the end of December.

Munster have eight points from their first two games and Clermont four.
