No-go: Balan fails medical at Franklins Gardens

Guinness Premiership returnees Northampton have revealed that Petru Balan will not be joining the club after the prop failed a medical.

Saints announced the signing of the player in March from Top 14 outfit Biarritz after being impressed with the loosehead's performances.

However, Northampton have announced that the 31-year-old Romanian has failed a medical and won't be coming to Franklin's Gardens.

"Petru-Vladimir Balan will not be joining the club after having failed to satisfy the requirements of the club's medical department," read a club statement on Wednesday.
