Danny Grewcock: Two more years at Bath

Bath have announced that England international lock Danny Grewcock has signed an extension to his contract that will see him stay at the club until the end of the 2009/10 season.

35-year-old Grewcock, who has played for the British and Irish Lions and has accumulated 69 caps for England, was arguably in some of the best form of his life last season and his wealth of experience in the second row will be vital for the club over the coming seasons.

His contract extension further strengthens Bath's options in the second row department after the signings of Stuart Hooper, Justin Harrison and England U20 international Scott Hobson over the summer.

Grewcock signed for Bath Rugby from Saracens in 2001 has played in 174 games for the club in all competitions.

"I am pleased to be extending my contract," he said.

"I feel that winning the European Challenge Cup was just reward for the players and the coaches at the club and also for the efforts I have put in during my time here.

"Hopefully that was the start of something good at Bath and I believe that the success has helped the club bring in new players of the calibre of Justin Harrison, Stuart Hooper and Shontayne Hape. From a personal point of view I am very happy to continue playing here."
