Touching Distance: New Zealand expected to claim World Series crown in Edinburgh

Hosts Scotland have been handed a tough task in the Edinburgh Sevens after being drawn against South Africa, Australia and Argentina.

The Scots will face this month's Adelaide Cup champion Springboks in Pool B on day one of the tournament at Murrayfield on May 31.

Clear leaders New Zealand face England, Russia and Portugal in Pool A of the two-day event, which rounds off the IRB Sevens World Series season.

The Kiwis look set to retain the title after winning the first five cups, but they have yet to rubber-stamp their defence and South Africa, Fiji and Samoa are battling it out for second place.

Samoa face Canada, Spain and Wales, while the Fijians line up in Pool D against France, Moldova and Kenya.

New Zealand require victory in the plate or a cup semi-final appearance to seal their series defence in the Scottish capital.

Edinburgh Sevens draw:

Pool B: South Africa, Australia, Argentina, Scotland
